Today is Thanksgiving Day. We all have something to be thankful for in life, it doesn't have to be something material all the time. We should always thank our God above all who gives us so much blessings in life. Happy Thanksgiving Day to y'all!

A Filipino Thanksgiving Celebration

Thanksgiving Day will be tomorrow, November 25th and tomorrow will be my 4th time to celebrate the Thanksgiving Day in the United States. I just want to share an article from RemitHome. Every month, they published an article about Filipinos in the United States.

"Thanksgiving, celebrated on the fourth Thursday of November, is a very popular holiday in the U.S., since it’s a time for families to gather together over a meal to give thanks for their blessings. That’s why the day before Thanksgiving is the busiest travel day of the year.

One of the first Thanksgiving celebrations occurred in 1621, when the Pilgrims invited their newfound Native American friends to share food after the fall harvest and give thanks for their new country. It has evolved into a holiday where families and friends come together, regardless of religious beliefs or country of origin. American family gatherings range from simple meals with immediate family to an entire day of activities with family and friends, with board games, outdoor sports, turkey runs, helping at food banks, and watching Thanksgiving parades and football games on television. And, not surprisingly, the celebration focuses on cooking and sharing good food.

Some Filipino families who have established residence in the U.S. have enthusiastically adopted the foods of their new country, fully embracing the traditional Thanksgiving feast: roast turkey, mashed potatoes and stuffing, gravy, cranberry sauce and pumpkin pie. Other households may add favorite dishes from home to the Thanksgiving meal. For some, rellenong bangus and mechado are the real stars of the meal; the turkey is either absent or a mere afterthought. Other families supplement the traditional bird with pancit, rice, menudo, and lumpia or serve leche flan instead of pumpkin pie."

How does your family celebrate Thanksgiving? Happy Thanksgiving Day everyone!
